Your stay in Wiltshire

You’re right in the heart of it at the Lamb, ideally positioned with Tisbury Train Station and the A303 on the doorstep, you can reach bountiful local attractions in minutes.  Take a walk through our local countryside, bike around the picturesque Hindon, or visit the world-famous stonehenge and Longleat. Our sister pub The Mitre is just a short drive away in the pretty market town of Shaftesbury (well worth a visit – if you remember the famous Hovis advert).

Being situated in the heart of the Wiltshire Downs means there’s plenty of countryside to explore on foot or bike, but there’s still plenty to get up to at ours! Wander around the chocolate box village of Hindon or kick back and relax over a glass (or two!), or why not even savour some al fresco dining courtesy of our garden.

Feel free to speak to Ellie and the team here at the pub for plenty of ideas and inspiration on places to visit.

Longleat

Longleat is home to the UK’s original Safari Park, and is one of the best examples of Elizabethan architecture, with an abundance of exciting family attractions on offer; including Jungle Kingdom and Animal Adventure where you can get up-close to exotic animals.

Old Wardour Castle

Built in the 14th century, Old Wardour Castle remains a popular destination for visitors in the Tisbury area.  Enjoy the fantastic views from the turrets of the beautiful landscaped grounds. This English Heritage site proves a great day out for families, couples, photographers or budding historians.

Stonehenge

Walk in the footsteps of your Neolithic ancestors at Stonehenge – one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe and get stunning photos if you visit at dawn or dusk.

Stourhead

With hills, water and classical architecture overlaid by a fabulous collection of trees and shrubs, Stourhead was described as ‘a living work of art’ when first opened in the 1740s. Stourhead is breathtaking in any season, but it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a picnic in summer.

Gold Hill, Shaftesbury

Founded over 1000 years ago by King Alfred the Great, Shaftesbury is one of England’s most charming and historic market towns, famous for its picturesque Gold Hill (of Hovis fame!), with extensive views of the unspoilt Dorset landscape.

Salisbury Cathedral

Since 1549, the cathedral has had the tallest church spire in the UK at 404 feet.  Visitors can take the ‘Tower Tour’, in which the interior of the spire can be viewed. A fun day out for all budding historians!
